Biography
The son of a composer and conductor and an actress, Antoine Monot, Jr. was born in Rheinbach on 22 June 1975 and grew up in Loheland near Fulda in Hesse and in Zurich in Switzerland. Antoine Monot, Jr. studied directing at the Zurich University of the Arts, subsequently acting at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the Theater am Neumarkt Zurich, among others, until 1996.
Together with director Daniel Krauss, he founded the production company ZUCKERFILM in 2009, with which he realised the films «Wo es weh tut» by Daniel Krauss, Luk Perceval’s «Traum im Herbst» and «Kaiserschmarr» (AT). In this comedy of mistaken identity from 2013, Antoine Monot, Jr. plays the folk musician Zacharias Zucker and the porn actor Alex Gaul in a double role.
Antoine Monot, Jr. is a board member of the Bundesverband Schauspiel (BFFS), for which he conceived the «German Actor Award» and held and hosted it for the first time in 2012. As co-founder of the Zurich Film Festival, he is also active there as artistic director until 2009. In January 2016, Antoine Monot, Jr. is awarded the Swiss Film Prize for his role in the Lucerne crime scene «Ihr werdet gerichtet».
Commercial face and rise in the limelight
Since 2013, the actor and producer has embodied the role of “«Tech-Nick» and has achieved cult status as the campaign face of the German electronics chain «Saturn».
He can be seen as «Prankmaster» in the ProSieben comedy show «Prankenstein» in summer 2015 and spring 2016. He has also been explaining the world from a man’s point of view in the sketch comedy series «Knallerkerle» since April 2017. He also likes to joke about various clichés about the supposedly stronger sex.
Antoine Monot, Jr. is also part of the SKETCH HISTORY ensemble, in the ZDF comedy series people and events from world history are parodied. In March 2017, the sequel to the cult film «Lammbock» with Antoine Monot, Jr. started in cinemas.
