Biography

Burrell has been active as a musician, songwriter and producer for more than 30 years. Reto Burrell manages to fuse rock, pop, country, folk and blues into his very own Americana style.

Rolling Stone magazine said of his 2014 release “Lucky Charm”: “Another great songwriting album from the Swiss with American roots” and Tracks Magazine called him “The Swiss Tom Petty”.

At the age of 12, Reto already knew that his passion for music would not remain just a hobby. He was a founding member, guitarist and songwriter for the hardcore punk band Profax in the late 80s. The band was a figurehead of the Swiss hardcore movement at the time. In the early to mid-90s, Reto was singer and guitarist with the alternative rock band Släm. In 1999, he decided to focus entirely on his music career. At that time he signed with Blue Rose Records. In 2001 he released his first solo album «Echo Park», two more albums followed under this label.

In 2010 Reto Burrell released his music for the first time under his own label Echopark Music, the album «Go» Further albums and band projects followed on his own label. In total, Burrell released twelve albums as a solo artist by 2020. Some of these albums made it into the Top Ten of the European Americana Charts. In addition, there were countless concerts in Switzerland and tours in Germany, Austria, France, Holland, Italy and Spain.

In 20112–2013 he was active in the band project C.H. (Country Helvetia) with Kisha and Rickenbacher as guitarist and producer and later also as singer. They released two albums on EMI Records and won the Prix Walo Award in 2011 in the category «Best Swiss Country Act». In 2014 Reto Burrell signed again with Blue Rose Records. In 2017 he signed with Tourbo Music and released one album each there in 2017 and 2018. Some of his albums made it into the Top Ten of the European Americana Charts. Over the years, Reto has given numerous concerts in Switzerland and toured Germany, Austria, France, Holland, Italy, Spain and the USA.

Under the acronym ReBu, Reto Burrell produced various Swiss artists and bands such as Ishantu, Noan, Basement Saints, Coal, Trummer (musician), Mothers Pride, Vivian, Bougainville, déjàvu and many more. Reto Burrell also wrote songs for and with Anna Känzig, Adrian Stern, Ueli Schmezer, Trauffer, and others.
