Copyright societies
A copyright society is an organisation administering the copyrights. In Switzerland, these are SUISA, ProLitteris, SSA and SUISSIMAGE.
On the one hand, copyright societies represent their right holders with regard to types of rights which can only be legally enforced through collective management organisations, also referred to as mandatory collective management. On the other hand, they offer rights management services to the right holders in other areas (so-called voluntary collective management).
